My grandma sent out an email yesterday telling my story. Here it is:
Welcome baby Mikayla June!
Daddy and Mommy, Jeff and Alison June, are doing well.
Papa and Grandma, John and Carol June, are very excited!
She arrived May 11 at 9:42 a.m., weighed 7 lbs., and was 19 inches long.
We got to the hospital when she was a few minutes old. Alison said she was a mess but she looked beautiful as she gazed at the child she just brought into the world. Mikayla soft cries stopped when she heard the sound of her daddy’s voice.
Aunt Katie spent the night at the hospital laboring with Jeff & Alison and cut the cord when Mikayla was born. I’m sure Katie will be Mikayla’s favorite just as is the case with Caitlyn and Ava.
David, Jessica, and Ava arrived at the hospital with a large thermos of coffee and Ava wearing a, “I have a new cousin shirt.” Ava made sure that Mikayla had two ears which involved checking under the big knit cap the nurse had put on Mikayla. Dave and Jessie went back to the hospital later in the evening and brought dinner for Jeff and Alison.
Kings Sr. took care of Caitlyn and brought her to the hospital to meet her baby sister. Mommy and Caitlyn held Mikayla, then she and Daddy played, “This little piggy…” with Mikayla’s toes just as countless other generations have done.
Now all the Kings are back home on Mother’s Day, ready to settle in to long nights, hectic schedules, dishes and laundry piling up, and the joys and rewards that come from raising children.
Praise God for Mikayla’s safe arrival!
For the record, my sister and I don’t have any favorites, yet. We can be bribed.
